Dicky Eklund is a former professional boxer and trainer, also known as "The Pride of Lowell." He is perhaps most famous for being the older half-brother and former trainer of former Welterweight Champion Micky Ward. Eklund himself was a talented boxer in his youth, but struggled with addiction and legal issues throughout his career.
Eklund's story was portrayed in the 2010 film "The Fighter," in which he was played by actor Christian Bale. The film chronicled the tumultuous relationship between Eklund and his brother Micky, as well as Eklund's struggles with drug addiction.
Eklund has since turned his life around and become a respected boxing trainer, working with numerous fighters in the Lowell, Massachusetts area. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the challenges and redemption that can come with overcoming addiction and personal struggles.
